La Mers

I imagine the train would look warm from the outside. The dark grey skies. Slippery grey roads. Dark green smudges of shrub.

And the train. Lit up on either side, holding the silhouettes of many.

Yes, it's safe in the train.

But there, on the other side, more green smudges, and then? Then the grey and white mass.

Tossing. Turning. Throwing itself about like there's no tomorrow.

The silhouettes turn their heads, and avert their eyes. Thick wads of paper filled with stories lose their wonder. Melodies lose their beauty. And screens, their captives.

The Sea. La Mers.
It steals them.

On Uni Life

Ahh, uni life. It's awesome, but really kinda terrible. Drinking. Eating bad food, and, uhm...uncouthness? (I'm attempting not to freak out my mother). Oh, and don't forget the procrastination! Or rather, the reason I'm writing this rather random blog.

It's really weird seeing so many friends start uni a year earlier, and wondering what your missing out on, and getting there and realising how bad it actually is for you. Don't get me wrong, it's kind of radtastic. Skipping classes to chill with my cousins (who are 1, 3 and 7 years old), missing buses and not caring because hey, it's just philosophy! Getting about half as much sleep, eating macca's and drinking copious amounts of caffeine. The list goes on!

And then you remember you're actually there to learn stuff, and it's just so weird!

Anyways, enough of the rambling... I have half a paragraph of an essay to write... :/

Inspiration (and Lack Thereof...)

I haven't felt that much like writing lately...I wish it didn't involve inspiration :P

Well, actually, I did have an entertaining idea a few days ago, but it didn't come to fruition. I'm not sure what was going on in my head, but I began writing a story about a bunch of 18 and 19 year old kids becoming Transperth bus drivers, and on their first day driving their buses alone, they took over the streets of Perth. Drag racing buses, anyone?

It was a bit too crazy to be written by me though :P

In the meantime, I shall leave you all (i.e. my Mother...who is currently my only follower) with a link to this utterly fantastic song that I've been musing over lately. You never know, maybe I'll be scarily fangirl-ish and write a story based on the lyrics :P

Enjoy! (And please excuse the Morning Show video...trying to get the version closest to the one I have) :P

Tipsy Ramblings and Possibilities

After a little bit of wine and a glass of OJ and vodka (with a bit too much vodka), I decided it would be a good idea to revamp one of my many blogs. The odds of this lasting are small, as I don't tend to drink enough to consider posting my ramblings online. In the meantime however, I hope this blog provides you with some form of entertainment (and an inclination to leave even more entertaining comments), beginning with something I typed up on my phone at the train station this evening :)

There is a feeling of anticipation. The air is almost buzzing. There are girls in short dresses and high heels, trying to stay afloat. Men in rugby jersey's and footy jumpers and men in freshly laundered shirts, wearing cologne. A lone office worker weaves through the crowds, thinking only of the comfort of home. A couple in their late 30s chew gum snidely, feigning youth.

The evening has brought with it cool air and endless possibilities.

The floating girls think of handsome men. The men think of victory. A trio of salty haired, pink cheeked surfers think of sleep.

I walk slowly behind three old ladies who take one step at a time. They've experienced the fast lane, and no longer feel the need to rush. For them, life is something to be enjoyed, savoured. I wish I could share in their wisdom, but I'm still thinking of all the possibilities. The never ending possibilities.
